In 1991, to maintain future competitiveness into 21st century, we acquired 760,000 square meters of land in Toyo City, Ehime Prefecture, to be used as the site of our new Toyo Works. Subsequently, in October 1999, operations were commenced on the world's first pickling facilities equipped with preroll functions at the Toyo Works. Furthermore, operations were commenced on cold-rolling facilities that were directly linked to the rear face of the pickling facilities in April 2000, and in May a continuous galvanizing line was activated. Through the installation and activation of this series of cutting-edge facilities, the Toyo Works has become an integrated coated steel works, displaying industry-leading quality and productivity.
