Located in Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, facilities at the Shunan Works feature two electric arc furnaces, two top- and bottom-blown converters, a bending type continuous casting machine, four reversing Sendzimir mills, a tandem Sendzimir mill, an ultrathin-gauge mill, and a three-stand tandem cold-rolling mill. The Shunan Works has earned a solid reputation as a world-class stainless steel making facility, providing high-performance products that meet the needs of today's market. Completed in 1958 as Japan's first cold-rolling stainless steel sheet mill, the Shunan Works is being upgraded for improved overall stainless steel production and special steel operations.
