Nisshin Steel has been pushing through Companywide ISO 14001 certification as means to continually upgrade its environmental management systems. Toyo Works (Toyo City, Ehime Pref.; Plant Chief Toshinori Miki) commenced full-fledged operations in June 2000, and on September 20, 2001, the works attained ISO 14001 certification from JIC Quality Assurance, Ltd.

Toyo Works' certification completes Nisshin Steel's certification of all seven of its production works.

Toyo Works commenced full-fledged operations in June 2000 and manufactures all types of cold rolled and coated steels.

The works' primary product is ZAM, a zinc, aluminum, and magnesium alloy-coated steel with 10 to 20 times the corrosion resistance of conventional zinc-coated steels and 5 to 8 times that of zinc and 5% aluminum-coated steels. ZAM's long product life helps reduce waste emission volumes and conserve resources and energy and it requires less time for post-machining plating processes, thus contributing to the protection of the environment.

Toyo Works is keenly aware of the need for environmental consideration in both manufacturing processes and the products themselves. Through ISO 14001 certification, the works has assembled a highly effective set of environmental protection measures.


Nisshin Steel is building a management system to further environmental protection, including acquisition of certification under the international standard ISO 14001 and an internal environmental assessment system, so as to reduce the environmental impact in all aspects of corporate activity and offer products friendly to the environment.
