I would like
to thank all of our valued customers in manufacturing and distribution who
took time out of their busy schedules to be here with us today. I would
also like to offer my heartfelt gratitude for your unvarying patronage.
The operating environment surrounding the steel industry is harsh, and needless to say, we cannot prevail in this competitive atmosphere without weapons of the newest technology. In this respect, we are proud to announce the well-timed opening of the Toyo Works, made possible by the support of our business partners. With the start-up of the new facilities at the Toyo Works, some of our old lines will be shut down. Through this upgrading, we have installed state-of-the-art equipment for upstream and downstream operations to make the Company internationally competitive in the entire line-up of production of carbon, special, and stainless steel. We hope that the resulting improvement in product quality will enhance customer satisfaction. However, competitiveness in today's market cannot be reinforced by simply installing new equipment and improving product quality, and we recognize that it is imperative for Nisshin Steel to pursue thorough rationalization and new product development as well. The Toyo Works is built on this concept, and concrete measures are taken to achieve innovative production and technological development. To this end, we introduced a new technology line equipped with a mechanical descaler, the world's first rolling on scale process for pickling facilities, and ZAM, highly rust-resistant sheet. Our employees have worked hard to make your visit comfortable, and everyone will have a better understanding of the Toyo Works and Nisshin Steel after today. Our sales motto is "The Customer is Number One." I hope that this occasion will help make Nisshin fans out of our guests, and deepen the interest of guests who are already our fans. Since our managers of sales, production, technical and R&D are here, please take the opportunity to ask them any questions and get to know each other better. I look forward to hearing your requests and comments regarding the Company. Finally, I wish all of our customers continued success and good health going into the 21st century.
