As Japan's economy continues to recover steadily, the steel demand remains firm, particularly from domestic users, despite rises in the prices of raw materials and fuels.
Under these circumstances, Nisshin Steel Co. made various efforts to secure earnings, such as a shift to highly competitive, strategic products, although it was affected by rising procurement costs and the high levels of flat rolled steel inventories in the three quarters (from April 1, 2005 to Dec. 31, 2005). As a result, the company posted a consolidated operating profit of 57,924 million yen, a consolidated recurring profit of 52,794 million yen and a consolidated net profit of 26,998 million yen, on consolidated sales of 419,780 million yen. |
