Nisshin
Steel has actively pursued measures to prevent air pollution with
dust collectors, low-NOx combustion systems, and other means, and
measures to prevent water pollution such as reduction of the chemical
oxygen demand (COD) in waste water. Recently the company has made
investments to expand its dust collection equipment, install recycling
equipment with improved functionality for generated products, and
augment the dust-tight nets. Its total spending on environmental equipment
since the Pollution Measures Basic Law was established in 1967 comes
to 65.2 billion yen. |

Since
the first oil crisis back in 1973, Nisshin Steel has been actively
promoting measures to save energy. Recently the company has invested
in improving thermal efficiency through the introduction of regeneration
systems, in improving the efficiency of oxygen manufacturing equipment,
and in augmenting byproduct gas collection holders. The cumulative
investment in energy conservation measures since the first oil crisis
in 1973 comes to 178.0 billion yen. |
