pollution prevention measures |
  |
In
order to reduce the sulfur dioxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx),
and dust produced by burning, we are reducing the use of fuel under
energy conservation measures, converting to clean fuels such as natural
gas and LPG, using coal and heavy oil that has low sulfur content,
improving combustion technology, and installing low-NOx burners.
Also, with environmental monitoring systems we are keeping track of
the quantity of NOx and fuels used, with this data sent to local governing
bodies by telemeter systems. |

Measures
to prevent water pollution |
 |
The
quality of water discharged from our manufacturing facilities is improved
by appropriate control of suspended solids (SS), pH, and chemical
oxygen demand (COD) with various water treatment equipment that performs
coagulation and sedimentation, filtration, and biological treatment.
And with the use of a telemeter system, the main data for controlling
water quality is sent to local governments in real time.
For example, at the
Toyo Works, as at the other works, the industrial water that is used
is filtered and neutralized in on-site water treatment equipment until
it no longer has components that are harmful to the environment. The
stable operation of the water treatment equipment is checked on site
and is continually monitored in a monitoring center via control data
and television. To protect the beautiful Seto Inland Sea, we have
a full system to help to realize an environment that is congenial
to people. |
