In
creating "products that are kind to the environment and to people,"
the Nisshin Steel group considers the preservation of the environment
an important management fundamental for the sustained growth of the
enterprise, and a social responsibility to be discharged.
In our business activities
we strive to contribute to building a society in harmony with the
environment and preserving the environment on a global scale. |
|
Basic
policies of environmental protection |
 |
| 1) |
Activities
to reduce the environmental impact in production processes |
 |
With
our ISO 14001*1 environmental management system in place, in
addition to reducing the environmental impact on the atmosphere,
water, and soil, we strive to conserve resources, save energy,
and recycle at every stage of our business activities, and on
a continuing basis we pursue measures to reduce our environmental
impact. |
| |
|
| 2) |
Providing products that help preserve the environment |
| |
|
We
are helping to build a society that recycles and lives in harmony
with the environment, by developing and marketing environment-conscious
products (eco-materials) that meet customer needs, follow social
trends, and are based on LCA*2 viewpoint. |
| |
|
| 3) |
Participation of everyone in the Nisshin Steel group |
| |
The
entire Nisshin Steel group is working together to reduce the
environmental impact through coordination in all aspects of
business activities, from the purchasing of raw materials and
capital equipment to manufacturing, the development of technology,
the transport of products, the recycling of byproducts, and
the fabrication of environmentally friendly plants. As a citizen
of the local community, each employee is aware of the importance
of environmental issues and works on environmental preservation
efforts and the creation of a community, in coordination with
citizens, administrative authorities, and other enterprises. |

The

has carried out based on our framework policy of environmental protection. |
| |
| 1) |
Building the environmental management system |
| |
At
our manufacturing works, we have concluded and are implementing
environmental protection agreements (pollution prevention agreements)
with local governments. At present we are building an environmental
management system based on ISO 14001 at all of our manufacturing
locations (seven works). Company-wide, we have drawn up an "action
plan for environmental protection" and are promoting energy
conservation, resource recycling, and the control of hazardous
pollutants. |
| |
| 2) |
Contributing to environmental protection through products |
| |
In
response to social trends concerning the environment, we are
developing and marketing environmentally friendly products (eco-materials)
that are made for longer useful life, elimination of processing
steps, energy conservation, reducing the environmental impact,
and enhancing environmental improvement functions. |
